He joined the army in 1942 and trained as a pilot in California, Texas, and New Mexico. Contains photocopies and originals of family histories; AAF (Army Air Force) documents including orders; promotions, and pay papers; original copies of "Stars and Stripes" military newspaper that Partridge used as a form of communication to his family about military operations he participated in (Partridge communicated with check on side of the article that relates to him); a memorial booklet celebrating the life of Partridge that includes much information about his genealogy, life, career at the University of Utah and service as a leader in the LDS Church; photocopies of his AAF class album (1943); copies of correspondence between Partridge and his family during the war and excerpt photograph copies of Partidge's World War II photo scrapbook, including bombing runs over Germany, group shots of crew and views of England.

Partridge was a Wyoming native and a B-17 bomber pilot in the 323rd Bombardment Squadron, 91st Bombardment Group, 8th Army Air Force during World War II. After the war, he studied chemistry at the University of Wyoming and the University of Utah (1951). He was a chemistry professor at the U of U, and a local church leader in Salt Lake.
